One day in 1430 CE, a near by tribe started a war with the Incas. In those times in South America, warring tribes usually killed the losing tribe, and the Incas were losing badly. Viracocha, the Inca ruler, and Pachacuti’s father did not want to die. Pachacuti gathered the Inca army and won the war. Instead of killing the other tribe, Pachacuti allowed them to live.

This article provides more specific information, such as Pachacuti’s father name. It also stated Pachacuti name meant, “He who transformes the Earth.” Pachacuti took the thone in 1438. From then on he began expanding the Inca empire. Pachacuti also invented the Inca language, quechua.

This article talks about Pachacuti’s decision to expand his kingdom. Pachacuti and his brother Roca marched to Yucay to fight Urco. During the battle over the ravine of the Uubamba river Roc a hit Urco in the throat with a shot from his sling which such force he made Urco fall into the river. Urco with his weapons in hand was dragged by the current over the falls.After the victory Pachacuti ordered the construction of a palace which showed his power. This palace became known as Machu Pichu.

This article talks about how Pachacuti rebuilt Cusco after the first battle. Pachacuti decided to move all the people out of the village in order to rebuild. First, he changed the direction of two rivers which would come together, overflow and make a mini lake during rainy season. He designed roads and plazas where people could eat, drink and dance at ceremonies.

This article talks about the Inca way of life. All the separate towns had their own language, however the Incas made them speak Quechua so they would understand each other. A capitol didn’t exist because there was no money. However, everything had value example; 5 potatoes = 1 corn, 5 corns = 25 Potatoes. Everyone worked together and one commandment “Do not be lazy beggars don’t exist.”.
